Well it is August already, and where did July go? Actually WYS was teaming with sailing activity. The US National Team Optimist Regatta was a major undertaking and it drew considerably from our club volunteers. 90 boats were raced and teams from all over the country enjoyed excellent sailing conditions and the hospitality of WYS. My thanks go to Norm Wentworth who organized this complicated and lengthy event. I also was very pleased with the great effort made by members who volunteered their boats and time in the many jobs that needed to be done. Thanks also to our managers for juggling the on going lessons and this event simultaneously.
July sailing also included GYSBRA race week and the FLYING SCOT Long Island Championship. We thank our race Committee and their chairperson Fran Graham for their fine work.
The Tennis tournament , swim meets , tennis lessons and our Saturday nite dinners are all in full swing. Check your e mails for our notices.
I have been informed that our adult sailing lessons have been well attended. I am pleased to hear that sailing is reaching new people. Go for it!
