Yes, we have lift off......We are definitely in high season. School is out and everyone is ready to
enjoy all we have to do at WYS. Monday June 30 the summer lessons began. The Championship sailing season is underway, and I want to see some new faces on Saturdays discovering the rich heritage we have at the club. Patrol boats, are needed and bodies to man them. Give it try, you will be glad you did.
Speaking of sailing, we will be hosting the
Optimist Team Racing Championships on July 20-22, which will draw approximately 60 youth sailors from around the country. The winning team earns a slot at the International Team Racing Championships in Italy this August. Please contact the club office if you can volunteer a few hours on land or on the water for any (or all) days - July 19 (check-in) through June 22.
On Sunday July 6, Bob Murray will host the annual Sunfish Scavenger Hunt on the Bay. This is a must do for any family with a Sunfish and young children.
On the social scene, Our July calendar begins with an Independence Celebration on Saturday, July 5th. The Smetana's are hosting.
On July 12th , Karaoke makes its return to WYS. Last year we discovered hidden talent among our membership. Its fun ,easy and I hope you will pick a song you know from among the 10,000 song on file. Your Commodore will be there to show you how.

2008 USODA National Team Racing Championships
Westhampton Yacht Squadron is proud to host the 2008 Optimist National Team Racing Championship Regatta from July 20-22, 2008. We welcome all of the competitors, their families, coaches, volunteers, race officials and USODA Officers to our Club.
